What's the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer labels?
Direct thermal labels use heat-sensitive paper that darkens when the print head applies heat—no ribbon or ink required. Thermal transfer labels require a ribbon that melts ink onto the label surface. Direct thermal is simpler and more cost-effective for shipping labels; thermal transfer is better for labels that need to last years or resist harsh conditions.
Will these direct thermal labels work with my Zebra printer?
Yes. Our 4x6 direct thermal labels are compatible with Zebra printers including the ZT230, ZT410, ZT420, ZT510, ZT610, ZD420, ZD620, GX420d, GK420d, LP2844, and TLP2844. They also work with SATO, Honeywell, Datamax, TSC, Printronix, CAB, and Citizen industrial printers.
How long do direct thermal labels last?

Are these labels smudge-proof?
Our direct thermal labels feature a smudge-resistant coating that protects the printed image during normal handling. While no direct thermal label is completely smudge-proof (the technology relies on heat-sensitive material), our labels are designed to withstand typical shipping and warehouse handling.
